Monique Lhuillier Spring 2017 Bridal Collection

Fashion

Magnificent and ethereal, the Monique Lhuillier spring 2017 bridal collection is by far one of the most astounding bridal lines for the spring season when the ladies shall be walking down that aisle. Between the months of April and August, it is quite certain that fans of Lhuillier and even those who have yet to discover her will be enjoying the decadence of lace and fanciful confections, the images and silhouettes inspired for the designer by the look of “a carefree woman running through a garden, capturing the feeling of being madly in love.” Sounds like a winner for us really. After all, who does not want to be madly in love on their wedding day?

Monique Lhuillier Spring 2017 Bridal Collection

The year is quite an important one, marking the designer line’s 20th anniversary. As such it makes sense that Lhuillier dug into her archives and brought out some of the best from the past two decades to recreate for the modern woman who loves to stand tall in a crowd, chic and sophisticated but appearing so young and playful at heart.

The collection can be described as light and effortless, the femininity quite clear throughout as the gowns hug curves and show off skin while enchanting even the angels from the Heavens above. There are some lingerie-inspired slip style dresses as well as some full gowns, lots of florals and tissue-weight organza. It’s all quite delicate and sweet, while we noticed the use of color as well throughout, ranging from pistachio to rose.

The Monique Lhuillier spring 2017 bridal collection includes a whole lot of translucency as well. We notice tiers of organza falling from a sash at the waist, the open neckline in a deep V and the décolletage well presented. We have lots of floral appliques throughout, adding to the garden feel of it all, on slips and columns and tiny strapped looks.

One creation in particular, the modern trend of double slits appears healthily, adding quite a bit of sexy to the whole thing, though we certainly cannot imagine this being worn in a church or holy place. Slits also appear up the center on at least one dress, while it quickly becomes clear that form-fitting pieces and plunging necklines are the biggest trends to be seen. Strapless is not as common here as with some other designers, but it still has its place, as with the jumpsuits found from time to time.

Tulle and organza are most certainly a bride’s best friend here, while thin to medium thickness straps are a common sight. There is also a whole lot of nude used, making the pieces not quite appropriate to wear before a priest or otherwise.

As for the beauty looks, it appears that the hair is to be worn loose, parted in the center, with a small crown or band going across the frontal sections, pretty veils appearing from time to time as well. Overall, the collection screams beauty and true fashion, is very much in line with the modern trends and will probably also be appearing on the red carpet, aside from some beachside weddings and trips down the aisle.

Carolina Herrera Spring 2017 Bridal Collection

Fashion

There has always been something somewhat angelic in the pieces created by the talented Carolina Herrera. So when you mix in the angelic style with a day that is all about the magical and the pure, it makes perfect sense that we will be in for quite the treat, especially due to Herrera’s impeccable eye for style. Sophistication is key of course, as it has always been, with the designer’s tight spring lineup more definite reflecting on her mantra when it comes to bridal gowns – to create the most unique pieces in service to the most unique personalities. Now, not everyone might agree that things are especially unique when it comes to Herrera’s works, but they are certainly not the norm and that is something we cannot dispute.

Carolina Herrera Spring 2017 Bridal Collection

The Carolina Herrera spring 2017 bridal collection is most certainly something to covet a few gowns from. Even the most traditional princess styles are infinitely delicate, with nude tulle underlays adding to the ethereal nature of it all, and cascading floral appliques finding their way down the bodice.

Modern ball gowns appear on set of course, and there are ivory features and along with cream stripes and silver beaded bodices, there is something royal about it all as well. It is as if we are enjoying a costume party here of the most noble kind. Add in some exaggerated back bows and you have pieces that can certainly light the world with fireworks. Let us just hope it is not a Cinderella story here though.

Throughout the Carolina Herrera spring 2017 bridal collection we notice an abundance of tulle, ivory crepe, pearl buttons and floral embellishments. We see elegance and modernity combined with the magic of the classic, the looks quite appealing for most any lady, metropolitan or not. There is even an elegant short-sleeved trench gown in crisp silk faille.

There are 15 different looks to the collection, and each is as incredible as can be. From the strapless designs, which are common enough, to the sexiness of the open back, something we even notice on the strapless, though looks best on the Moon Princess look, the long trains and voluminous skirts, there is nothing quite so incredible as the gowns we see in this particular collection.

Ethereal is an understatement and the chic nature of each and every style, from the skirts to the trousers to the floral designed veils that fall to the floor, the semi-transparent corsets with the floral appliques and the use of volume around the hips, it is all so very lovely, and all so very white. Yes, if we are considering a designer bridal line to choose from, Carolina Herrera is undoubtedly one of the first to pop into mind. She is, by far, one of the most talented in this particular style of work and her pieces are bound to make any woman feel like the most beautiful thing to have walked this world.

Gigi Hadid & Zayn Malik’s Enviable Weekend Vacation In Italy Shot for Vogue

Fashion

Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik are one of the most talked-about celebrity couples of today, so naturally we couldn’t expect them to stay out of headlines for long. Most recently, on Monday evening a set of photos began circling social media, featuring shots of the power couple, in what was said to be a spread for an upcoming issue of Vogue. The images were originally dug up by super-fans of the couple, and of course they were held in speculation, since no one could be sure of the intent or not.

But, like clockwork, the very next day Vogue posted a preview for the spread of its May issue on its website, with the title “Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik’s Wanton Weekend in Naples.” This instantly rectified the social media publishings, making viewers feel lucky to have seen the editorial shots before were actually announced for magazine publication. The images were shot by Mario Testino, which was what the social media posters initially speculated due to their aesthetic.

The images themselves featured Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik on a romantic, sexy trip to Naples, much with the “wanton” nature as promised by the title. The clothes worn by Hadid and Malik were rocker chic, sometimes almost edging on rockabilly. The model was dressed in various looks, staying glamorous and with the romance promoted by the rest of the photoshoot. Hip-hugging dresses showed up Hadid’s killer body, and plenty of gingham, complemented by a beehive hairstyle, added a surprising level of southern charm. One photo featured the model in a high-waisted red gingham bikini showing off her athleticism by having her pose upside down for a shot. Hadid’s looks were all from luxury fashion houses, like Dolce & Gabbana, Miu Miu, and Prada.

The now-solo singer was dressed in leather jackets and charming slim suits, and a shot without his shirt showcased Malik’s full sleeve of tattoos. And naturally nothing special needed to be done to his hair, as the singer has a distinct signature hairdo that fans around the world have come to expect.

Photos were taken in a variety of locations, each unique to the next. For instance, one shot featured the stunning landscape of Naples in the distance in full color, two were shot with a motorcycle (one cute photo beside it and another riding), some were in the bedroom, and others still were black and white around the city. Altogether, the photoshoot showed an all-encompassing romantic vacation.

This is the couple’s second time filming together, with the first being in Malik’s “Pillowtalk” music video. It is undeniable that the two have fiery on-screen chemistry, so it’s not difficult to assume they would off-screen as well. Here’s to more photoshoots like this in the future!

Reformation Welcomes Spring With Delicate Flowers

Fashion

Leave it to the tough, eco-friendly brand Reformation to make a collection of lovely floral pieces have a biting edge come through with its title. “Delicate f*cking flowers” (yes, the asterisk is part of their title, too!) was the name chosen for the Reformation spring 2016 florals collection, which was photographed by Pictoresq over in Paris. The fun thing about this creative team is that it is those within the team that model for the photoshoots. Reformation went with it, and created a story around their created characters Jan Scott, an artist, and Angèle, a student of French literature. These two stylish women are “on the hunt for flowers,” according to the collection’s page, and from the looks of their clothes I’d say they found them!

Reformation Spring 2016 Florals Collection

Reformation seemed to have a new floral fabric for each look, so the only cohesion in that regard was that most pieces were fully floral. The only break from the floral pattern was to add in a couple of solid basics, either in creamy pastels, black, or slightly deeper shades of colors easy to associate with flowers. Aside from the few pieces that conformed to that, the floral pieces come in every silhouette you’ll need for your summer wardrobe, namely tops and dresses.

The dresses Reformation presented were often lovely and quite elegant, despite being more casual in nature. Many of the dresses are flowing and airy, much as could be expected with floral dresses, while others were given more structure in the skirt. Whatever length or style you’re looking for, there’s a good chance the brand has you covered. Or if you want a particular floral pattern, the wide variety of fabrics in this line will likely have exactly what you want. And if not, you’ll at the very least find another equally as amazing print.

A hydrangea pattern was printed on a sheer georgette fabric, and featured on a semi-sheer black dress. It has a classic beauty to it, much like others in the line. One of the most classic and common floral prints, a pink floral on a creamy white came in a stunningly simple crepe tank top. Its deep bust line makes it a great choice for a layering piece, and can be styled casually, professionally, or more formally, so you can’t go wrong with a purchase like that. The same pattern was also printed on a loose-fitting summery dress, with a straight bust line and a tied, two-strap design for the top.

I could drone on forever about the different stunning pieces in this line, but getting right down to it, Reformation has created a line full of irresistible floral pieces for the season, and you can see that for yourself by scrolling through the collection feed. From elegant plunging necklines to classically lovely for dresses, simple and versatile for tops, and a variety of pants and jumpsuits, Reformation has created a way for you to stay eco-friendly while still looking just as fabulous (or even more so, I’d say in this case) than by shopping other less eco-friendly brands in the industry.

Haider Ackermann Fall 2016 RTW Channels Fierce Elegance

Fashion

“It’s a tough world outside and I want to have this gracefulness, this brightness, happiness,” said designer Haider Ackermann of his latest ready-to-wear fall 2016 collection. “To show the other side of what we are confronted with every day.”

Haider Ackermann Fall/ Winter 2016-2017 RTW - Paris Fashion Week

It is true our world isn’t as easy as it could be, but designers, such as Ackermann, can make a huge impact just by providing everyone with beautiful clothes for each new season. But, of course, a truly inspirational line would be able to incorporate the hardships and turn them into another aspect of beauty. And with this in mind, Ackermann created a collection of skin-tight pants paired with masculine army jackets, but to top everything off was the fabric choice, including velvet and sparkle. So the designer brought the negativity of war in with the brightness of sparkle, to show the happiness interlocking with the sad.

The resulting looks were modern and young, perfect for the hot stars of today. In fact, celebrities like Ciara, Janet Jackson, and Kelly Rowland showed up to watch the presentation, and any one of them would look stunning in the tight looks presented on the catwalk. The iconic Pat Cleveland was also there, taking a turn on the sidelines of the runway, rather than walking on it like she did for H&M.

As was said, the pants were skin-tight, although Ackermann was rather insistent that they were graceful, not sexy. Honestly, that is one aspect that could go either way, depending on styling. Regardless of this, there would be no chance to carry anything in your pockets, so you’d have to look elsewhere for a purse to hold your belongings, as Ackermann added no accessories to his line. He let his tailoring and fit shine, deciding to lean to simplicity rather than over-embellishment. And for the most part, color played the same role. There was a substantial amount of blacks and other neutral colors, with color fighting its way into the mix in the middle of the show. Deep green and red showed itself on velvet garments, while there was a stunning pair of purple sparkly pants that seemed to stand out the most among others.

The Haider Ackermann fall 2016 collection was based on daywear, but there were some stunning pieces that could double as eveningwear. Some of the velvet pieces in particular would look great on a red carpet, but for this runway presentation they were dressed down for whatever time or occasion. Through his styling and overall presentation, Ackermann kept things simple and sleek for his presentation in a stunning metaphor for the world around us, and what can be done to make things a little bit better for everyone?

From the Urals With Love: Valentin Yudashkin Fall 2016 RTW

Fashion

We expected Valentin Yudashkin to be staging his presentation on theParis Fashion Week runway a few days later, but it appears that it would have coincided with International Women’s Day and that would have been a pretty awkward situation, since he was set to have another runway show for the Kremlin for the day’s celebrations of all that is female. As such, the show got bumped up to today, while the focus is clearly on women everywhere around the world and their desires. He has always liked the embellished looks, which clearly exist in the Valentin Yudashkin fall 2016 collection as well, while the calibration with the oxfords only adds to the collection’s validity to the world as a whole, despite the fact that he is undoubtedly more popular in his home country than in Paris.

Valentin Yudashkin Fall/ Winter 2016-2017 RTW - Paris Fashion Week

Some of the looks we encountered throughout include a black turtleneck base that has been layered with everything from velvet mini dresses to glimmering smocks of bronzed faux fur. Actually, the faux fur is a common theme throughout it appears as we notice it around necks, on coats, as stoles and lapels and Russian style hats, thick pieces of wound scarves and just looking rather lovely in different colors, from teal to caramel to black and grey.

We notice that the teal green color holds its own on the runway, appearing on multiple occasions, generally with a more greenish tint that we know should represent the malachite stone that is mined from the mountains. We also love the use of velvets, of lace and the combination of coverage and cutouts or transparencies that interact rather wonderfully together. Long coats appeared on the runway that were of hand cut silks or with some intriguing ornamentation, a few with a fun tug of war game happening between the masculine and feminine elements.

One of the best pieces on that catwalk showcasing the fall and winter ready-to-wear looks was that super slim suit with the patterned brocades that vibrated like Op Art. Yeah, we saw some rather intriguing ensembles, from the floor sweeping tulle dresses to the menswear mixes in the feminine designs, the good amount of decadence that is total Russian charm and the diaphanous chiffon that seemed to be inspired by the Ural Mountains themselves.

It was the malachite green that caught our attention best though since it was very vivid and the glamour of the pieces was only enhanced with its hue. There were some fun digitized prints that looked to represent the center of the stone, while it was clear that the line-up is made for those living in some pretty cold weather but still happen to desire great fashion and show off incredible style.
Russian or not, the looks we find here are quite comparable with what the latest Western designers have been coming up with, matching with the trends of 2016, and really bringing the women of the world the gift of great looks, no matter what the weather is like where they live today.
